Jamie Hicks

Jamie Hicks is a saxophonist, composer and woodwind clinician based in Vancouver, BC. Having studied under Steve Kaldestad, Chad Makela, and Mike Allen, Jamie received his Bachelors Degree Jazz Studies from Capilano University, where he also studied arranging with Bill Coon, and composition with John Korsrud. Jamie has performed with international jazz musicians such as Randy Brecker and Norma Winstone, and Canadian jazz luminaries like Dennis Esson, David Braid, and Brad Turner. Currently Jamie plays and heads up the Connections Ensemble while also playing in the Urbana Big Band. Jamie also maintains an active career as a music educator. He teaches private lessons, works with community youth bands in the lower mainland and is the director of bands at Chartwell Elementary in West Vancouver.
